2016 continues to be a massive year for the Harry Potter Universe and fans of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world. Back in July, the franchise came back with a bang as the stage play and sequel to the original seven books and eight films hit London’s West-End. The script of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was also released, becoming the most pre ordered book of 2016 in the process. Now our attention turns to the big screen as one of the most anticipated movies of 2016 finally arrives at our local multiplex.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is based on a 2001 book of the same name. The book appears in the first Harry Potter book as part of the young wizard’s studies and was released under the pseudonym of a fictitious author Newt Scamander. The new film, set in 1920’s New York takes inspiration from the beasts in the original text and focuses on Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) as the lead character. With this film set the be the first of five prequels to the Harry Potter universe as we know it, it’s fair to say that there is a lot to get excited about!
